ἐλεέω (—aw) is found in the interesting but obscure letter written to a man in money difficulties BGU IV. 1079%8 (a.p. 41) (= Selections, p. 40) ἐρώτα αὐτὸν καθ᾽ ἡμέραν' τάχα δύναταί σε ἐλεῆσαι, ‘Cask him daily: perhaps he can have pity on you”: cf. In MGr the verb is used with the acc. = ‘‘give alms to.”’ WH read forms derived from ἐλεάω in Rom 918, Jude 321. For other exx. of the mixing of —déw and —éw in the NT ef.
