[0 give additional strength ; to make stronger, (Sir. xxix. 1; Xen. oec. 11, 13). 2. intrans. to receive greater strength, grow stronger, (1 Mace. vi. 6; Theophr., Diod.): ἐπίσχυον λέγοντες, they were the more urgent saying, i. 6. they alleged the more vehemently, Lk. xxiii. 5.
