UBS Dictionary of the Greek New Testament
noun, f. | -εως | θέλω
25.1 · Attitudes and Emotions · Desire, Want, Wish
to desire, to want, to wish to desire to have or experience something As may be noted, in translating θέλησις, θέλημα[a] (25.2), βούλημα[a] (25.4), and εὐδοκία[b] (25.8), there is a tendency to employ verbs rather than nouns. This is true especially in languages outside the Indo-European family of languages. Wanting, desiring, and wishing are essentially psychological events or states and accordingly are most frequently expressed in languages by verbs.
