Moulton & Milligan — Vocabulary of the Greek NT
καταδιώκω [page 326]
This perfective verb is confined in the NT to Mar_1:36 , where it should be translated pursue after, hunt down, and not simply follow after (AV, RV) : see Proleg. p. 116 and cf. the LXX usage in Psa. 17:38 [MT Psa_18:38 ], Psa_34:6 [MT Psa_35:6 ] al. , and in Pss. Sol. 15:9. The same idea of force underlies Gen_33:13 , where the verb = overdrive.
