λιβανωτός medical prescription P Oxy II. 234-33 λιβ]ανωτὸν οἴνῳ [διεὶ]ς ἡδίστῳ κλύζε [τὸ o]ts, ‘dilute frankincense with very sweet wine and syringe the ear” (Edd.): cf. 26. I. 118? (late iii/A.D.) λιβανωτόν [τινα σ]υναγοράσας, ‘buy some incense,” and OG/S 383! (mid. i/B.c.) ἐπιθύσεις ἀφειδεῦς λιβανωτοῦ Kal ἀρωμάτων. Grimm’s note makes Rev 8% ° confuse A. = “ frankincense ” and A.Bavwrls=‘“‘ censer,” but Syll 588158 (c. B.C. 180) λιβανωτίδος κλάσματα has the latter word in the former meaning, so that the confusion existed also ‘‘in prof. auth.,”’ or at least in profane inscriptions.
