Moulton & Milligan — Vocabulary of the Greek NT
Λούκιος [page 381]
As compared with Λούκιος in Act_13:1 , Rom_16:21 , we find the transliteration Λεύκιος in P Tebt I. 33 .3 (B.C. 112) (= Selections , p. 30) in connexion with the preparations for the visit of a Roman Senator Λεύκιος Μέμμιος Ῥωμαῖος τῶν ἀπὸ (cf. Act_12:1 ) συνκλήτου . Nachmanson (p. 61) gives various exx. of Λεύκιος from Magnesian inscrr., and thinks that the spelling may have been affected by a genuine Greek name exx. of Λεύκιος (from λευκός ) : cf. Moulton Gr. ii. p. 88, and for other exx. see Michel 394 .2 (mid. i/B.C.), 668 .21 (i/B.C.), al.
