Abbott-Smith Greek Lexicon

ἀνα -βοάω , -ῶ , [in LXX for H6817 , H2199 , H7121 , etc.;] to cry out: Mat_27:46 ( WH , ἐβόησεν ; v. MM , VGT , s.v. ).†

Moulton & Milligan — Vocabulary of the Greek NT

ἀναβοάω [page 30] In the interview between Marcus Aurelius (?) and a condemned criminal, P Oxy I. 33 iii. 7 (= Chrest. I. p. 35), we read of the latter that ἀνεβόησεν [μ ]έση̣ς Ῥώμης , summoning the Romans to see him led off to death. Beyond this rather outrι document, we have no other evidence of the Κοινή use of the word, an interesting confirmation of WH s rejection of it in Mat_27:46 unless indeed the more literary Matthew was emending Mark ( Mar_15:34 )!

Liddell-Scott — Intermediate Greek Lexicon

ἀναβοάω [Etym: The form ἀναβοάσω is aor1, not future.] "to shout aloud, utter a loud cry", Hdt. , Eur. ; of "a war-cry", Xen. ; c. inf. "to call out" that . . , id=Xen. c. acc. rei, "to cry out" something, Eur. ; also "to wail aloud over" a misfortune, Aesch. , Eur. c. acc. pers. "to call on", id=Eur.

STEPBible — Tyndale Abridged Greek Lexicon

ἀνα-βοάω, -ῶ [in LXX for צָעַק, זָעַק, קָרָא, etc. ;] to cry out: Mat.27:46 (WH, ἐβόησεν; see MM, VGT, see word).† (AS)
