memorial, in memory of, something to cause people to remember (derivative of μνημονεύω[a] ‘to think about again, to remember,’ 29.7) an instrument or means designed to cause to remember In translating ACT 10:4 it is important to avoid implying that God had forgotten; the implication is simply that prayers and acts of charity are means by which God becomes aware and thus responds to such events.
It is also possible to restructure the meaningful components of this statement as in the case of TEV, “God is pleased with your prayers and works of charity.”
