This conversational diminutive ( Joh_12:14 ) may be illustrated from P Oxy I. 63 .11 (ii/iii A.D.) τοὺς δειγματοάρτας καθ᾽ αὑτὸν ἀναπέμψαι πρὸς ζυγοστα [σ ]ίαν λαβόντα παρὰ τῶν ἀρχεφόδων ὀνάριον , send up the inspectors yourself to the examination, gelling a donkey from the chiefs of the police (Edd.) : c. the double diminutive in P Ryl II. 239 .21 (mid. iii/A.D.) πανταχόθεν ἴδε αὐτ̣ῷ μικρο̣, ν̣ ὁ̣̓ν̣αρίδιον , look out everywhere for a small donkey for him (Edd.). The word appears as a diminutive of ὄνος in its less usual sense of wine-cup in P Giss I. 47 .17 (time of Hadrian) τὸ ὀνάριον τὸ χαλκοῦν , BGU I. 248 .26 (ii/A.D.) ὀνάριον ὑπὸ τρίχωρο (ν ) οἴνου .
