quick, swift pertaining to a very short period of time, with the probable implication of special haste It would also be possible to understand ὀξεῖς οἱ πόδες αὐτῶν ‘their feet are swift’ as being an idiom, but ὀξύς occurs frequently in non-biblical Greek with the meaning of ‘quick, swift, soon.’ In ROM 3:15 οἱ πόδες αὐτῶν is a metonymic expression meaning ‘the people,’ so that it is not simply the feet that are swift to shed blood, but it is the people who are quick to kill.
