to crucify again to cause to die on a cross a second time In extrabiblical Greek ἀνασταυρόω is essentially equivalent in meaning to σταυρόω (20.76), but in HEB 6:6 ἀνασταυρόω is used figuratively of believers whose sin causes Christ to be crucified again in the sense of exposing Christ to public shame by virtue of the misdeeds of his professed followers. Some scholars, however, interpret ἀνασταυρόω in HEB 6:6 as referring simply to the original crucifixion and thus interpret ἀνασταυρόω as being essentially synonymous with σταυρόω.

ἀνα-σταυρόω, -&; to raise up upon across, crucify, (ava as in ἀνασκολοπίζω) : Heb. vi. 6, (very often in Grk. writ. fr. Hdt. down). Cf. Win. De verb. comp. ete. Pt. iii. p. 9 sq.; [Winer admits that in Heb. 1. c. the meaning to crucify again, or afresh, may also be assigned to this verb legitimately, and that the absence of a precedent in prof. writ. for such a sense is, from the nature of the case, not surprising ].
