In illustration of Rev_2:9 mention is sometimes made of CIG II. 3148 (time of Hadrian) οἱ ποτὲ Ἰουδαῖοι , the quondam Jews, as if these were renegade Jews who had forsworn their faith, but Ramsay ( Letters , p. 272), following Mommsen, is of opinion that they were quondam in the sense that they were no longer recognised as a separate nation by the Roman law (as they had been before A.D. 70).
For ἤδη ποτέ , iam tandem , as in Rom_1:10 , cf. the ostracon letter published by Deissmann LAE , p. 186 .6 καὶ ἤδη ποτὲ δὸς τῆ ἐμῆ παιδίσκη τὰς τοῦ (πυροῦ ) γ̄ ε̄ , and now at length give to my maid the 3Ύ artabae of wheat. See further s.v. μήποτε .
