wing, is found several times in an oracle of iv/iii B.C., Syll 801 (= .3 1167) .1 .5 , dealing with the auspices drawn from the flight of birds ἢν ἐπάρει τὴν εὐώνυμον (δεξιὴν ) πτέρυγα . In a food-account, P Oxy IV. 738 .10 ( c . A.D. 1), the editors translate πτέρυγες β̄ , 2 snipe (?). MGr φτερούγα . For πτερόω in late Greek of spreading the oars or sails of a ship like wings, cf. Psaltes Gr . p. 323.
