Gen_18:6 (see Aq. and Symm.); Jdg_6:19): Mat_13:33; Luk_13:21, (in both examples A. V. 'three measures of meal' i. e. the common quantity for 'a baking' (cf. Gen_18:6; Jdg_6:19; 1Sa_1:24)).

a word found in the LXX to denote a measure = 1½ modii, or nearly three English gallons ( Mat_13:33 , Luk_13:21 : Jos. Antt . IX. 85 (= ix. 4. 5)). Instead of connecting the word with the Aram. ρΘΰϊΘΰ , Otto points to a root-form * σάτιον , corresponding to the Coptic saidion , a wine-measure of Sais : see Archiv iii. p. 448.
