a due amount of food rations an appropriate portion or ration of food (a type of food allowance) It is possible to interpret σιτομέτριον in LUK 12:42 as ‘the proper amount of food’ or ‘the food that was due them’ or ‘the food that should be given (to the servants).’ Since σιτομέτριον is a semantically complex term consisting of two quite distinct components, it is usually necessary to employ a phrase as a proper equivalent.
