Σκευᾶς [page 577]
Sceva, an inhabitant of Ephesus ( Act_19:14 ). The name is found in CIG II. 2889, with reference to a Milesian gladiator.
For a suggestion that ἑπτά in Act_19:14 , which changes unaccountably to two (ἀμφοτέρων ) in Act_19:16 , may be due to a gloss, Σκευᾶ = ωΡας = ἑπτά , see Proleg. pp. 80, 246.
