Moulton & Milligan — Vocabulary of the Greek NT
σκηνοποιός [page 577]
in Biblical Greek is confined to Act_18:3 , but for the verb σκηνοποιέω see Sm Isa_13:20 ; Isa_22:15 , and for the subst. σκηνοποιΐα see Aq Deu_31:10 . In view of these passages there seems to be no reason to question the ordinary rendering tentmaker in Ac l.c. , but for explanations as to how the alternatives landscape-painter and shoemaker may have arisen, see notes by Ramsay and Nestle in Exp T viii. pp. 109, 153 f., 286.
