loving self, occurs in Bibl. Greek only in 2Ti. 3:2 : cf. Philo Leg. Allegr. 1. 49 (ed. Cohn) φίλαυτος δὲ καὶ ἄθεος ὁ νοῦς οἰόμενος ἴσος εἶναι θεῷ . For the corr. subst. see P Par 26 .1. 10 (B.C. 163) (= UPZ i. p. 247, Selections , p. 14) δι᾽ ὀλίων ( l. ὀλίγων᾽ τὴν ατῶν ἀδικούντων ἡμᾶκ φιλαυτίαν ἐχθεῖναι .
