to drive away, to force to leave to cause to move away from a point by threat or by force A strictly literal translation of ACT 18:16 as ‘he drove them out of court’ might imply that Gallio personally and physically forced them out of the court; probably, he simply caused them to be driven out of the court by court officials. Therefore, it may be necessary in some languages to indicate this causative relationship by ‘he ordered them to leave the court’ or ‘he ordered the officials to force them out of the court.’
