cold : neut. cold water (Mat. 10:42) : cf. the inscr. found in a burial chamber Preisigke 335 δίδοι σοι ] Ὄσιρις τὸ ψυχρὼν ὕδωρ , and so often. The adj. appears alone in the medical Syll 804 ( = .3 1170) .30 ἀναγαργαρίζεσθαι ψυχρῷ πρὸς τὴν σταφυλήν , to be used as a gargle with cold water for the uvula, and for ψυχροφόρος cf. P Oxy VI. 896 .11 (A.D. 316) τῶν δύο ψυχροφόρων , the two cold water conductors, in connexion with baths.
