to confirm, to verify, to prove to be true and certain, confirmation, verification to cause something to be known as certain PHP 1:7 βεβαίωσις may denote either the process of making known something in such a way as to confirm its truth or the process of causing people to think about something and to accept it as trustworthy, in which case βεβαίωσις might also be classified in Domain 31 Hold a View, Believe, Trust, Subdomain G Accept as True.
1 The meanings of βέβαιος[c] (28.43), βεβαιόω[b] and βεβαίωσις (28.44) involve two quite distinct sets of semantic features. There is the obvious element of that which is confirmed, verified, and true (meanings which could be classified in Domain 72 True, False) as well as the process of making such information known. These meanings could therefore be treated in either domain.

βεβαίωσις. To the use of this word in P Fay 9 βεβαιόω we may add P Giss I. 511° (a.b. 202) βέβαιον διὰ [παντὸς ἀπὸ πάντων πάσ]ῃ βεβαιώσει, PSI 1. 7017 (Λ.}.. 216-7) βεβαιώσῳ σοι τὴν πρᾶσιν πάσῃ βεβαιώσει. For πάσῃ βεβαιώσι καὶ ἀπὸ δημοσίων ἃ5 denoting that the object sold is guaranteed as owing nothing to the fiscal authorities, see BGU I. 15378 (A.D. 152). Deissmann 4S, p. 104 ff., has an interesting exposition showing how the technical term eis βεβαίωσιν, the antithesis of εἰς ἀθέτησιν, was adopted by the LXX from legal phraseology in Lev 25°%, not to render nnd exactly, but to give the general sense, ‘‘ the ground 219 already cited s.z. belongs to Yahweh—therefore it may not be sold adbsolete/y,” by a legally defined sale. So again in Heb 61 *‘ for a legal guarantee.” He cites P Par 6211.8 (ii/B.C.) . . οτοι eis τὴν βεβαίωσιν ὑποθήκας [ . . ., and shows that it survived even till A.D. 600. ‘Lhe forensic flavour of the word is noted as still discernible in Phil 17—‘‘ this defence before the court will be at the same time an ezctio or convictio of the Gospel.” The papyri discovered since Deissmann’s pioneer work was published support with numerous examples his thesis that the word must always be read with the technical sense in mind. It is worth noting that Vettius Valens, p. 258, has ἀγαθῶν βεβαίωσιν next to εἰσποίησιν and in close company with other legal terms, as well as more general ones.
