1 NAM 3:17 · NAM 3:17 The phrase כְּגֹוב גֹּבָי "like a locust of locusts" is normally taken as a case of dittography from an original כְּגֹבָי "like locusts", as per LXX. Most versions translate it as a collective noun phrase: RSV "like clouds of locusts", NJPS "like piles of hoppers", NJB "like swarms of hoppers", NIV "like swarms of locusts". The Vulgate follows the MT more closely "quasi lucustae lucustarum", "like (the) locusts of locusts".
