Divine Lordship

2 sermons

Divine Lordship encompasses the profound truth of God's sovereign authority over all creation, as articulated throughout Scripture. In Psalms 103:19, we read, "The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all," highlighting the omnipotent reign of God. This theme is further illustrated in the New Testament, where Jesus proclaims in Matthew 28:18, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me," affirming His divine lordship and the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan. Believers are called to recognize and submit to this divine authority, as seen in Romans 12:1, where Paul urges us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is our true and proper worship. The concept of divine lordship also invites us to trust in God's providence, as expressed in Jeremiah 29:11, where He assures us, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Understanding divine lordship cultivates a deeper reverence for God’s character and His unwavering commitment to His creation, as exemplified in the teachings of Jesus and the writings of the apostles.
