Divine Transcendence

1 sermons

Divine transcendence refers to the concept that God exists beyond and independent from the created universe, embodying a nature that is infinitely greater than our human understanding. As expressed in Isaiah 55:8-9, God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours, emphasizing the vast chasm between divine wisdom and human reasoning. This transcendence is not merely about distance but also about God's sovereignty, as affirmed in Psalms 113:4-6, which proclaims that the Lord is exalted over all nations and that His glory is above the heavens. Furthermore, in Romans 11:33-36, Paul marvels at the depth of the riches and wisdom of God, highlighting that His judgments and ways are unsearchable and inscrutable. This theme is echoed in Job 36:26, where it is stated that God is great beyond our knowledge, reminding us of our limited perspective in the face of His infinite majesty. Jesus, in John 4:24, reveals that God is spirit, inviting us to worship Him in spirit and truth, thus acknowledging His transcendent nature while also drawing us into a personal relationship with Him. Understanding divine transcendence deepens our reverence and awe for God, urging us to approach Him with humility and faith.
