Divine Warning

2 sermons

Divine warning is a profound theme woven throughout Scripture, reflecting God's desire for humanity to turn from sin and embrace His grace. The Bible reveals that God, in His mercy, issues warnings to lead His people towards repentance and salvation. In Ezekiel 33:11, we see God's heart as He implores, 'Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.' This underscores the divine intention behind warnings: not to condemn, but to save. Similarly, in 2 Peter 3:9, we are reminded that 'The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.' Jesus Himself exemplified this in His teachings, as seen in Matthew 23:37, where He laments over Jerusalem, expressing His longing to gather its people like a hen gathers her chicks. The warnings found in Scripture serve as a call to awaken the conscience and lead sinners to the hope found in Christ, as articulated in Romans 10:13, 'For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.' Through these divine warnings, believers are encouraged to heed God's voice, recognizing that His corrections are ultimately expressions of love and a pathway to eternal life.
