Grace And Law

1 sermons

Grace and law are central themes in Scripture that highlight the relationship between God's commandments and His unmerited favor towards humanity. The Apostle Paul articulates this relationship in Romans 6:14, where he states, "For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace." Here, Paul emphasizes that grace empowers believers to live righteously, not through the constraints of the law, but through the transformative power of God's grace. Jesus further illuminates this concept in Matthew 5:17, declaring, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." This fulfillment reveals that while the law sets the standard for holiness, it is grace that enables us to meet that standard through faith. Additionally, Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that it is by grace we have been saved, through faith, and this not from ourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. The interplay of grace and law is beautifully encapsulated in Galatians 5:13, which encourages believers to use their freedom in Christ to serve one another in love. Thus, understanding grace and law is vital for a holistic view of salvation and Christian living.
