Last Judgment

2 sermons

The Last Judgment is a profound and sobering theme woven throughout Scripture, culminating in the ultimate accountability of all humanity before God. As Jesus illustrates in Matthew 25:31-46, the Son of Man will come in His glory, accompanied by angels, to separate the righteous from the wicked, akin to a shepherd dividing sheep from goats. This vivid imagery emphasizes the certainty of divine judgment and the eternal consequences of our earthly actions. In Matthew 13:47-50, the Parable of the Fishing-Net further reinforces this truth, depicting the end of the age when the angels will gather the wicked and cast them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Such passages remind believers of the urgency to live in accordance with God's will, as seen in Romans 14:10-12, which states that we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, giving an account of our lives. The Last Judgment serves as both a warning and an encouragement, urging us to reflect on our faith and actions in light of eternity. Ultimately, it is a call to embrace the grace offered through Christ, who, as John 5:22 affirms, has been given all authority to judge, ensuring that justice will prevail.
