Messiah's Character

1 sermons

The character of the Messiah is a profound theme woven throughout Scripture, revealing the nature and attributes of Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of God's promises. Isaiah prophesies about the Messiah, declaring Him to be 'a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief' (Isaiah 53:3), highlighting His empathy and deep understanding of human suffering. In contrast to earthly rulers, Jesus embodies humility and servanthood, as illustrated in Matthew 20:28, where He states that He came 'not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.' This selfless character is further exemplified in His teachings on love and forgiveness, as seen in Matthew 5:44, where He instructs His followers to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. The New Testament affirms His divine nature, with John 1:14 proclaiming, 'The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.' Ultimately, the character of the Messiah is a perfect blend of justice and mercy, as expressed in Romans 5:8, where it states that 'God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.' Through these scriptures, we gain a deeper understanding of the Messiah's character, which calls us to reflect His love and grace in our own lives.
