The Hebrew word "qara" (קָרָא) often translated as "proclaim," implies calling out or summoning, and it can refer to both divine and human declarations. For example, in Isaiah 61:1, the prophet declares, “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” This illustrates the prophetic role of announcing God's message of hope and salvation to those in need.In the New Testament, the Greek term "kērysso" (κηρύσσω) is used similarly, emphasizing the act of preaching or heralding a message, particularly the gospel. For instance, in Mark 16:15, Jesus commands His followers to “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.” This directive underscores the importance of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and the salvation He offers.
