Purpose of Ministry

10 sermons

The purpose of ministry in the biblical context is to serve and glorify God by spreading the message of salvation and edifying the body of Christ, as seen in Ephesians 4:12, which states that ministry is for the equipping of the saints for the work of service. According to 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, ministry involves reconciling people to God through the message of reconciliation, and as such, it is a sacred calling that requires humility, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving others. As Psalms 100:2 reminds us, our service to God is to be characterized by joy and thanksgiving, and as we minister to others, we are to do so with the assurance that God is working all things together for good, as stated in Romans 8:28. Through ministry, believers are able to demonstrate their love for God and their neighbors, fulfilling the Great Commandment as expressed in Matthew 22:37-40.
