Supernatural Longing

1 sermons

Humanity has always experienced a profound longing for the supernatural, a deep-seated desire that echoes the truth found in Ecclesiastes 3:11, where it is written that God has set eternity in the hearts of men. This yearning reflects our innate recognition of a reality that transcends the physical world, as expressed in 2 Corinthians 5:1, which speaks of our earthly bodies being temporary, while our true home is in the eternal. In the Gospel of John, Jesus emphasizes this longing when He states, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life' (John 14:6), inviting us to seek the divine and the eternal through Him. Moreover, Romans 8:19 reveals that creation itself waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the children of God, illustrating that our desire for the supernatural is not only personal but cosmic in scope. This longing is fulfilled through a relationship with God, as seen in Psalms 42:1, where the psalmist expresses, 'As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.' Ultimately, the Bible teaches that our supernatural longing is a divine invitation to experience the fullness of life in Christ, who satisfies our deepest needs and connects us to the eternal.
