Thanksgiving And Praise

1 sermons

Thanksgiving and praise are fundamental expressions of a believer's relationship with God, deeply rooted in biblical teaching. The Psalms, often referred to as the hymnbook of Israel, repeatedly emphasize the importance of giving thanks to the Lord. For instance, Psalms 100:4 instructs us to "enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise," highlighting how gratitude opens the door to communion with God. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul exhorts believers to "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you," reminding us that our gratitude should not be contingent upon our circumstances but rather a constant posture of the heart. Jesus Himself exemplified thanksgiving, as seen in John 11:41 when He gave thanks before raising Lazarus from the dead, demonstrating faith in God's power and goodness. Furthermore, Colossians 3:17 encourages us to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him, which underscores that our entire lives should be infused with gratitude. In the context of the sermon "The Hireling and the True Shepherd," the contrast between self-serving leaders and those who genuinely care for their flock serves as a reminder of the ultimate Shepherd, Jesus, who is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving for His sacrificial love and guidance.
