11 Bible Verses on Abuse in a Marriage

11 verses

In a marriage, mutual respect and love are essential, as husbands are called to love their wives with sacrificial devotion, as seen in Ephesians 5:25 and 5:28. The Bible teaches that abuse has no place in a Christian marriage, with Colossians 3:19 warning husbands against being harsh with their wives. According to 1 Peter 3:7, husbands are to live with their wives in an understanding way, honoring them as co-heirs of the grace of life. Proverbs 22:10 also emphasizes the importance of removing wickedness from the home, promoting a peaceful and loving environment.

To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If a brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his believing wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband.
