22 verses

In God's eyes, the poor are particularly close to His heart, as James 2:5 notes that He has chosen the poor to be rich in faith. The Bible teaches that God is near to those who are needy, as seen in Psalms 34:6 and 34:17, where it is written that He saves and delivers them. Job 29:12 illustrates the importance of caring for the poor, as Job himself was blessed for helping the fatherless and the poor. Proverbs 22:16 warns against exploiting the poor, emphasizing the need for fairness and compassion towards them.
