In a world filled with distractions and demands, the Bible teaches the importance of prioritizing one's focus and energy. The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42 illustrates the value of choosing what is truly important, as Mary prioritizes time with Jesus over busyness. Ephesians 5:15-17 encourages believers to make the most of their time, while Haggai 1:5-9 warns against allowing busyness to distract from what truly matters. By seeking first God's kingdom, as taught in Matthew 6:33, and doing everything to His glory, as instructed in 1 Corinthians 10:31, believers can cultivate a sense of purpose and balance amidst busy lives.

As they traveled along, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to His message. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things. But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways. You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You earn wages to put into a bag pierced through.” This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways. Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified, says the LORD. You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for bread to eat— for He gives sleep to His beloved.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you without money, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost! Why spend money on that which is not bread, and your labor on that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of foods.
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.”
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
