7 Bible Verses on Desperation

7 verses

In times of crisis, believers can turn to God with confidence, calling out to Him in their desperation. The Psalms, such as Psalms 50:15, encourage this honest expression of need, and Romans 15:13 promises that God will fill them with joy and peace as they trust in Him. However, desperation can also lead to unhealthy influences, as warned in 1 Corinthians 15:33, emphasizing the importance of surrounding oneself with positive, faith-filled relationships. Ultimately, as 1 John 4:18 reminds us, perfect love casts out fear, and those who abide in God's love can find peace even in desperate circumstances, as described in Psalms 91:14-16.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.”

“Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”
Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
For this is what the LORD says: “When Babylon’s seventy years are complete, I will attend to you and confirm My promise to restore you to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and places to which I have banished you, declares the LORD. I will restore you to the place from which I sent you into exile.”
