8 Bible Verses on Expectancy

8 verses

In the midst of uncertainty, believers are called to live with a sense of anticipation and hope for the future. According to Jeremiah, God has plans to prosper and give His people a future filled with hope. The Psalms encourage waiting on God with expectation, trusting in His goodness and timing, as expressed in Psalms 62:5. The New Testament, particularly in Acts and Romans, emphasizes the importance of living with expectancy, looking forward to the fulfillment of God's promises, as seen in the disciples' anticipation of receiving power in Acts 1:8 and the imminent return of Christ in Romans 13:11.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Acts 3:5
So the man gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”
The length of our days is seventy years— or eighty if we are strong— yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!
