According to the biblical account, humanity was created in the image of God, as stated in Genesis 1:27, where both male and female are formed in His likeness. This creation is a deliberate act, as seen in Genesis 1:26, where God says "let us make mankind in our image." The Psalms also affirm God's personal involvement in creation, with Psalms 139:13 noting that He carefully formed each individual in the womb. Furthermore, Colossians 1:16 and Ephesians 2:10 reveal that all things, including humanity, were created by God and for His purposes, with Ephesians emphasizing that believers are His workmanship, created to do good works.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.
And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth.
