12 Bible Verses on Gods Appearance

12 verses

The Bible teaches that God is a Spirit, and as such, He does not have a physical body. In 1 Samuel, it is written that God looks at the heart, not outward appearance, and in Genesis, humans are created in God's image, but this image is not physical. When God does manifest Himself, such as in Revelation, His appearance is often described in symbolic and majestic terms, as in Revelation 1:12-15. Additionally, Proverbs reminds us that true beauty and worth come from within, and Revelation 19:11-16 describes Jesus Christ, the ultimate revelation of God's character, in a vision of splendor and glory.

Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters.
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him; the LORD does not see as man does. For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.”
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war. He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is The Word of God. The armies of heaven, dressed in fine linen, white and pure, follow Him on white horses. And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.
God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire.
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes, but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.
As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.
In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
Above the expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man. From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire within it all around. And from what seemed to be His waist down, I saw what looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded Him. The appearance of the brilliant light all around Him was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.
