12 Bible Verses on Helping People

12 verses

Scripture teaches that caring for others is a fundamental aspect of following God's will. In Proverbs, it is written that lending to the poor is a loan to the Lord, and that those who are generous will be blessed. The New Testament emphasizes the importance of practical love, as seen in 1 John, which asks how we can claim to love God if we do not help those in need. Jesus Himself taught the value of storing up treasures in heaven by giving to those who are less fortunate, as recorded in Luke, and Galatians encourages believers to bear one another's burdens.

What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that? So too, faith by itself, if it does not result in action, is dead.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
