15 Bible Verses on Husband and Wife

15 verses

In the biblical view, marriage is a sacred institution where two become one, as stated in Ephesians 5:31. The relationship between husband and wife is one of mutual submission and respect, with husbands called to love their wives as Christ loves the church, as seen in Ephesians 5:25. Wives are also encouraged to respect and submit to their husbands, as noted in Ephesians 5:33. The apostle Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 that both spouses have a responsibility to fulfill each other's needs, while 1 Peter 3:7 reminds husbands to live with their wives in an understanding way, showing honor to them as coheirs of the grace of life.

Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as a delicate vessel, and with honor as fellow heirs of the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife. Do not deprive each other, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, so that Satan will not tempt you through your lack of self-control.
Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
The LORD God also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper.” And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he slept, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the area with flesh. And from the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him. And the man said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of man she was taken.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior.
