12 Bible Verses on Hypocrisy

12 verses

The Bible warns against the dangers of outwardly appearing righteous while inwardly being corrupt, as seen in the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 6:1 and Matthew 7:5. According to Matthew 7:1-5, judging others while ignoring one's own sin is a form of hypocrisy. The apostle James also cautions that those who claim to be religious but do not control their tongues deceive themselves, as noted in James 1:26. In 1 John 4:20, the importance of loving one another is emphasized, highlighting the inconsistency of claiming to love God while hating a brother or sister.
