In the teachings of Jesus and the apostles, believers are cautioned against judging one another, as this can lead to hypocrisy and division within the body of Christ. According to Matthew 7:1-5, Jesus warns against judging others, lest we be judged ourselves. The book of James also emphasizes that there is only one Lawgiver, and we are not to take on that role, as seen in James 4:12. Additionally, Romans 14:1-23 teaches that we should not judge one another on matters of conscience, but rather accept each other in love, as noted also in Jesus' teaching to judge with righteous judgment, as in John 7:24.
