The words we speak have the ability to bring life or death, as the Bible teaches that our tongues hold immense power. According to Proverbs 18:21, the tongue can either bless or curse, and the choice is ours. In 1 Peter 3:10 and Proverbs 15:1, we are encouraged to use our words to build others up and promote peace, rather than tearing them down. The apostle Paul also exhorts believers in Ephesians 4:29 to speak only what is helpful and edifying, and in Psalms 141:3, the psalmist asks God to guard his mouth, recognizing the potential for harm that unguarded speech can cause.
