According to Scripture, the use of profane language is considered a serious offense against God and others. In Exodus 20:7, God commands against taking His name in vain, while in Colossians 3:8, believers are instructed to put away filthy language from their mouths. The teachings of Jesus in Matthew 12:36 emphasize the importance of accountable speech, and Ephesians 5:4-7 warns that obscene talk and foolish joking are out of place among God's people. James 3:10 also highlights the inconsistency of praising God and using profanity with the same tongue.
