10 Bible Verses on Strength and Weakness

10 verses

In times of difficulty, God's Word offers comfort and assurance, reminding believers that they are not alone in their struggles. According to Isaiah 41:10, God promises to strengthen and help those who trust in Him, while Philippians 4:13 affirms that believers can accomplish all things through Christ who gives them strength. The apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, also acknowledges the paradox of finding strength in weakness, as God's power is perfected in human frailty. Isaiah 40:28-31 further emphasizes that God's strength is available to those who wait on Him, even when they feel weak and exhausted.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
