The words that come from our lips have the power to bring life or destruction, as seen in the teachings of Scripture. In Ephesians, believers are encouraged to use their words to edify and give grace to those who hear, speaking only what is helpful and kind. The book of James warns that the same mouth can bless and curse, highlighting the need for self-control and wisdom in our speech. Meanwhile, in Matthew and Psalms, the importance of guarding one's mouth is emphasized, with the Psalmist asking God to set a guard over his lips, and Jesus teaching that it is not what enters the mouth that defiles, but what comes out of it.
