10 Bible Verses on The Pope

10 verses

Scripture warns against elevating human leaders to a position of undue authority, as seen in Jesus' teachings in Matthew 23:9 and Luke 20:46, where He cautions against seeking titles and prestige. In Matthew 16:18-19, Jesus establishes the importance of the church, built upon the foundation of His teachings, rather than a single human leader. The Bible also emphasizes that there is only one mediator between God and humanity, as stated in 1 Timothy 2:5, highlighting the unique role of Christ. Additionally, Jeremiah 23:11 condemns the corruption and self-exaltation of spiritual leaders, underscoring the need for humility and faithfulness in those who guide God's people.

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers, not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come. Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed. He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you?
Even if you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
