The Bible teaches that after death, the soul continues to exist, with eternal consequences determined by one's relationship with God. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be harmed by the second death.

I am torn between the two. I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better indeed.

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
