Psalms 146
BSA1 Hallelujah [rejoice]! Praise [extol, magnify] the LORD [Jah, Yehovah, the self-existent God], O my [inner, living] soul [the essence of a person]. word study 2 I will praise [extol, magnify] the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] all my life [while I have breath, as long as I exist]; I will sing [make music, celebrate with joy] praises to my God [Elohim, the supreme One] while I have my being [still, as long as I live]. word study 3 Put not [never, do not] your trust [confidence, faith] in princes [noble rulers, leaders], in mortal man [a son of man, human being], who [he] cannot [is unable, has no power] save [rescue, deliver]. word study 4 When his [spirit or breath of life] spirit departs [goes out or comes to an end], he returns [to turn back or come back] to the ground [earth or soil]; on that very day [a literal 24-hour period or a figurative space of time] his plans [thoughts or ideas] perish [are destroyed or lost]. word study 5 Blessed [happy, fortunate] is he whose help [assistant, supporter] is the God [Elohim, the supreme Creator] of Jacob [the father of the Israelites], whose hope [expectation, confidence] is in the LORD [Yehovah] his God [the one supreme God, his divine Helper], word study 6 the Maker [Creator, One who brings into being] of heaven [the visible universe, the abode of God] and earth [the land, the material world], the sea [a large body of water], and everything [all things, the entirety of creation] in them. He remains [keeps, preserves] faithful [true, trustworthy, keeping truth] forever [for all eternity, always]. word study 7 He executes [carries out, brings to pass] justice [righteous judgment] for the oppressed [those treated unfairly, crushed down] and gives [provides, puts] food [bread, sustenance] to the hungry [those in need of nourishment]. The LORD [Yehovah, God’s covenant name] sets [looseth, frees] the prisoners [those bound, in captivity] free [untied, released from bondage], word study 8 the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] opens [enabling to see, loosing the prisoners] the eyes of the blind [physically or spiritually unable to see], the LORD lifts [raises, raiseth] those who are weighed down [bowed down, bent], the LORD loves [has affection for, is a lover of] the righteous [just, upright, made right with God]. word study 9 The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] protects [preserves, keeps safe] foreigners [sojourners, temporary residents]; He sustains [upholds, supports] the fatherless [orphan, child without a father] and the widow [woman whose husband has died], but the ways [path, manner of life] of the wicked [morally wrong, guilty of sin] He frustrates [turns upside down, perverts]. word study 10 The LORD [Yehovah, the self-existent God] reigns [rules as King, has dominion] forever [for all eternity, always], your God [Elohim, the supreme Ruler], O Zion [the city of God, the mountain of His holiness], for all generations [through every age, to all people].
